In studying the name of "Jesus", one of the novelties I found is that in the Old English period, "Jesus" was not known as "Jesus" nor was he known as "Messiah". "Jesus" was known to the people of England as "Healand", which means "One that heals or saves."

We have to remember that the Bible during the Old English period was not translated into Old English. The English people only had the Latin Vulgate, and the English commoners did not speak nor write Latin.

So the people of the Old English period knew Jesus not by his name but by what he was known to do.

I found "Healend" so pleasantly simple regarding my Savior. The definition is so true to who He IS.
